Fishermen of Laborie
· Laborie, Saint Lucia ·
Portraits of men of several generations who all grew up here, in what they call Paradise.
Impromptu meetings in the fishing village of Laborie.

Luis came to me to ask for a portrait. He had seen that I had taken a picture of my friend and wanted to have pictures of him too. He wanted his chicken "Toutou" to be in the picture and we discussed the war in Ukraine and the existence of a tunnel under the channel to connect France and England. Luis was particularly funny and endearing, in the end he didn't even want me to send him the pictures, he just wanted to be remembered..

Conscience has been a fisherman for generations, when I met him on that Easter Friday, he was weaving fish traps with bamboo rods. He showed me his workshop and the technique of making these traps.

Selme's grandson wanted me to make his portrait. I met Selme on the shore, next to her house. She is a strong and independent woman, she lives alone and single to her heart's content.
